March 2023 | Highlights from Haiti

By March 29, 2023No Comments

Daily we are reminded of how blessed we are to have partners like you and such an exceptional staff in Haiti. It has been 4 years since we have been able to host a team in Haiti and this summer will mark 2.5 years since we’ve had any North Americans on the ground at our facility. However, God continues to multiply our ministry and ability to help more and more individuals in Haiti!

Haiti continues to navigate difficult days with violence and shortages becoming the norm but because of your faithfulness in partnership and prayer, Children’s Hope continues to impact Jacmel and the surrounding areas with life changing ministry and the life-saving message of Jesus. Our wonderful staff continues to be resilient and resourceful as they work to fulfill the mission that God has placed before us.

We pray the updates below encourage your heart, galvanize your resolve, and guide your prayers. We are so grateful to have you on this journey of impact with us and pray that your first quarter of 2023 has been blessed and healthy. We could not do what we do without you!

Strengthening Families Through Education

Teacher Training

About a month ago, Pastor Paul was able to lead the teachers from his school through some training. Our partner pastors work hard to ensure that the children in their schools receive excellent instruction. Our three Christian schools are providing a quality education, a daily meal, and shining the hope of the Gospel into the lives of 673 children.

Without your support, these children would have little to no access to a quality education. You are literally changing lives daily in Haiti. Thank you for your prayers and partnership.

Serving Communities

Ministry to Incarcerated Women

A few weeks ago, Children’s Hope had the opportunity to partner with some local folks in our community to minister to the women incarcerated at a local prison. We were able to provide food, hygiene kits, and mattresses for the ladies incarcerated at the prison.

Pastor Nicolas was able to pray for the women as a group and offer individual prayer and counsel. This was a brand new opportunity for us and helps us to further fulfill God’s instruction to us in Matthew 25:35-40.

Please join us in praying that God will continue to open new pathways of ministry for us. Pray that the women we ministered to would have open hearts to receive the hope and freedom found in Jesus. Pray that our team will continue to receive favor and opportunities as they explore deeper and increasing areas of ministry at this prison and to these women.

Perspective in Haiti

The unrest in Haiti continues to devolve in and around the capital of Port Au Prince. International intervention has been requested by both Haiti’s Prime Minister and the U.N. but no action has yet been taken.

Christianity Today published an article last month that traces the history of mission work in Haiti. This article is helpful to provide perspective to the ongoing and complicated circumstances that are now facing this beautiful land and her precious people by giving context to Haiti’s unique and complex past. The article can be read by clicking the button below.
